Austrian artist Jo Kühn was born in Vienna in 1945. From 1963 to 1966 he lived in Crete, followed by a year in Turkey. Returning to Austria in 1967, he worked in his preferred mediums at the time: painting and woodcuts. In the late 1970s and 1980s he was involved in progressive artist groups that focused on the environment and nature. From 1980 to 1990 Kühn made regular trips to Italy and in 1993 he travelled to India. Since 1998 he has worked exclusively in silhouette cutting. His work is characterised by an extraordinary range of artistic expression and technique.
