Dutch artist Jaap Majoor (Laren, 1941) followed his training at academies in Utrecht and Laren. He has a preference for oil paint and likes to focus on the essence of nature. He uses colors which can be experienced in the outdoors. Although some describe his work as expressionistic, Jaap sees himself primarily as a colorist. He selects colors from nature for his work and searches for the light, with which he provides a constant and intense struggle. His use of color and simplicity are characteristic of his work in which surface division and simple lines reflect his love of the French landscape.
