Caroline Bijl was born in the South of the Netherlands and currently lives in Amsterdam. After a career in forensic psychiatry she decided to start a new career as a photographer. She attended the Photo Academy in Amsterdam, where she graduated in 2011. At the start of her career she focused on portrait and art projects. More and more she finds her way in landscape photography though she is not a ’National Geographic landscape photographer’. “Landscape is not only a topographical, objective phenomenon. For me it is personal and subjective. Working in a landscape means going into it; experiencing and sensing the place”. Caroline works on film (analogue) and uses different types of camera. The series Winterreise was taken with a large format pinhole camera. Artist’s website: www.caroline-bijl-fotografie.nl
